Born in Reykjavik in 1974, Kristjana spent much of her life looking out over Iceland’s spartan landscape of black sand and frozen seas, dreaming of new worlds filled with abundant animal and plant life.
She travelled to London and completed her degree in graphic design and illustration at Central St Martins thus began her passion for maps and botanical engravings. The New York Times described her collections as part of the ‘New Antiquarian Movement’.
Kristjana creates prints, wallpapers and cushions with vintage style illustrations of exotic animals and insects layered over lavish foliage and antique maps to re-imagine fantastic new creatures and what she calls ‘Wishful Forests’.

British made materials and manufacturing are used, keeping production in England. Highly regarded among the design cognoscenti, her work is regularly featured in the press and collections are shown both in the UK and abroad.
