We were lucky enough to catch up with Susanne Nielsen, the founder and designer of Ebb & Flow, as she catches her breath before the hurricane of the design shows!
Ebb & Flow designs and produces decorative lighting using classic British and Nordic styles as the starting point. Susanne chooses glass, crystal and metal and has recently added textiles to the collections. Produced and assembled in Europe, the mouth blown glass and hand cut crystal is created in Poland, and the fabric shades and electrics assembled in Denmark.
Susanne is based in Denmark, and incorporates Danish style and culture with other European craft traditions.
Her vision is to bring sophisticated lighting design to people all over the world.
Launched only 5 years ago, Ebb & Flow is making its mark across Europe and also exports worldwide. The business is fairly equally split between retail and contract, and within the retail sector, around 25% of sales are on-line.
Best known for their huge collection of Pendants, just about every variation you might imagine, or dream of, is available, as well as to special commission. Ebb & Flow recently launched their collection of fabric shades and Susanne chose Harlequin fabrics for this range. A counter balance to their core collections, Susanne wanted to introduce a ‘softness’ and texture and the two quite different styles complement each other.
Ebb & Flow show at Maison et Objet twice a year and this year will be their first time at Decorex. (Stand J39). We’re excited to see both their iconic pieces and also some new additions.
