Lily founded her Interior Design practise in 2015 after several years at Taylor Howes Designs. She offers a service that is tailored to each client’s individual tastes and needs whether the project is a full refurbishment or a one-room re-fresh.
My Go To Fabric Showrooms – Fox Linton – I just love their colour palette. Their silk wools have an amazing drape for curtains and you can never go wrong with their linens. If linens are your thing do visit De Le Cuona too.
My preferred aesthetic – It is one of faded glamour. Zoffany (now part of Style Library Ltd) and Hodsall McKenzie (at Zimmer & Rohde) are great for this as well as Fromental whose silk thread wallpapers are the ultimate in understated glamour.
Hidden Gems – Don’t forget to cross over to the Design Centre East where there are lots more fantastic showrooms. I always enjoy a visit to Tissus D’Helene who don’t give out sample request sheets and instead encourage you to get stuck into the piles and piles of fabrics tugging out the ones that catch your eye.
New Locations – The arrival of the fantastic US furniture & accessories brand Arteriors in the UK was hugely exciting news. Their new showroom at the Harbour gives us the chance to see items in the flesh when sourcing and to avoid the import duties and customs delays that can be incurred when ordering directly from America.
Latest Collection Seen – Evitavonni – best known for their lustrous embroidered fabrics, the latest collection is inspired by Out of Africa and includes beautifully understated velvets and linens that tie in with their existing fabrics.
Best for Feature Fabrics – Zimmer & Rohde, Samuel & Sons for trims and for ultimate luxury head to Rubelli Donghia and Dedar. Splashing out on a metre or two here for cushions can go along way in a scheme with a smaller budget.
Lighting – Porta Romama’s lamps inject style into any interior and are something I’d always invest in. You will spot them in the work of many of the top Designers. Don’t forget to check out their furniture too.
Ann Sacks – A treasure trove of chic sanitary ware and patterned tiles.
Furniture – As well as Arteriors I also love Decca, Decorus , Black & Key and Davidson.
Carpets – Stark & Jacaranda. Tai Ping is in the East side of DCCH and is the height of luxury.
Ironmongery – Nanz – their hardware looks stunning on the website but nothing beats handling it in person to get a sense of the quality and weightiness.
